2024 Nationals - Lyttelton

Canterbury Zephyrs are excited to be hosting the 2024 Zephyr National Championships at Naval Point Club Lyttelton on Lyttelton Harbour (home of NZ's SailGP event 2023).

Key dates and information
(as at 5th July 2023)

The regatta will be held from the 1st of February 2024 to the 4th, (inclusive).

  • Day one (1st Feb) will be entrant registration and boat scrutineering.
  • Days 2,3 and 4 (2nd to the 4th), will be racing days.

This will be an 8-race series, with back-to-back races held on each of the 3 days. It is planned the racing is likely to be 3 races on the 2nd, and 3rd, with the final 2 races on the 4th.

Prizegiving will occur after racing on the 4th. No lay days or reserve days are set so those travelling to Canterbury can book with confidence based on these dates.

Boat Scrutineering

Spars, foils, and boat weight will be "scrutineered" for this contest.

For spars and foils, it is expected all entrants will have ensured their foils and spars measure by utilising their local regional measurer to carry this out. The measurer will apply the ZOA sticker on each of the items showing they measure, and these will be taken as done at the contest. Boats will be weighed at the contest. Those already holding ZOA stickers for their spars and foils do not have to get any measuring carried out (unless they have replaced or modified the equipment in any way.)

It is hoped this approach will streamline the process for us all, organisers and entrants.
