A note of thanks to Alex Aitken for his years as ZOA Patron

Alex Aitken's resignation as ZOA Patron was tabled at the recent AGM and the membership requested a note of thanks be sent in acknowledgement of Alex's decades of devotion to all things Zephyr. This has been sent to Alex personally, as well as our thanks published here.

The fact that the class is currently strong is due to Alex's efforts when President. He kept the class on a solid foundation during an era when many in the sailing community saw Zephyrs as a dated concept. Fortunately, his vision prevailed, and now the Zephyr is presently the largest adult class in the country. This a revival was only possible due to Alex's early work.

The guidance Alex offered as Patron has been appreciated and his participation and presence at national championships always added a welcome dimension to the rich tapestry of our iconic class.

Thank you, Alex.

- Brian Peet (ZOA Secretary) on behalf of the ZOA.
